Contemporary Dance

Contemporary Dance

Unlike the structured nature of ballet, Contemporary dance concentrates on versatility, freedom of movement and using the weight of the body.

Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, traveling through space, using gravity to pull them down to the floor as well as practicing choreographic phrases and exploring creative challenges and improvisations.

This dance genre is often done in bare feet and can be performed to many different styles of music.

Performance Opportunities

Our Senior Contemporary Dancers regularly perform in the JumpStart yearly dance event at The Venue MK and every alternate year all pupils, Juniors and Seniors, also perform alongside the entire CentreStage MK family in our whole school summer show also at The Venue MK.
